That's exactly the feeling Venini's MUREA collection was designed to create. And once you see it, it's very hard to unsee.
MUREA is a modular wall system made from handblown Murano glass — but calling it a wall feels almost too simple. Because what MUREA really does is transform the very idea of what a wall can be. Rather than dividing a space, it dissolves the boundary between inside and outside, between matter and light, between architecture and art.
A debut that stopped the room
MUREA was first revealed to the world at Downtown Design Dubai 2025 — one of the Middle East's most prestigious design fairs — where it formed the centrepiece of Venini's exhibition alongside three other extraordinary pieces: the Palma outdoor lamp, the Volcano modular installation, and the Stele I floor lamp.
How it works
Each MUREA module is an individual piece of handblown Murano glass, crafted in the Venini Fornace with the same mastery that has defined the house since 1921. The modules are assembled together to create a surface that is entirely unlike your traditional wall.
The glass captures light and amplifies it, returning it to the room as something richer and warmer than what came in. And with an integrated, dimmable lighting system built into the installation, the depth and shade of the glass shifts throughout the day and evening — from a warm amber glow at dusk to something altogether more dramatic after dark. The same wall, infinitely different depending on the hour and the mood you want to create.
More than a surface
What makes MUREA so extraordinary is its modularity. The system can be configured in an almost infinite variety of ways — as a full floor-to-ceiling installation like the dramatic living room image above, as a lower horizontal band as seen in the sitting room, or as a kitchen splashback that turns a purely functional surface into the most beautiful thing in the room.
In each configuration, the effect is the same — the wall stops being background and becomes the thing you look at. The thing people ask about the moment they walk in. The thing that makes a room feel like nowhere else.
A conversation between craft and architecture
At its heart, MUREA is about what happens when the ancient craft of Murano glassblowing meets the contemporary language of interior architecture. It is not decoration applied to a room. It is a material decision that changes the entire character of the space it inhabits.
